If all telephones sold after Aug 1989 to be HAC why are all mobile phones not tested?
Currently the FCC are increasing the benchmark deployment requirements on the manufacturers and services providers and as mentioned these numbers are going to increase for 2011. The present HAC measurement standard does not specify or accommodate HAC RF Emissions and Telecoil measurements for all device technology types. The FCC are intent on ensuring that varied and modern devices are made available to users of hearing aids, and they have done this in a staged process so that manufacturers are able to adjust their designs according to the requirements to meet the requirements of the HAC standards and also the measurements procedures need to be developed so that testing can be carried out properly to ensure the device is sufficiently HAC compliant for users for all technology types. The ANSI C63.10-2010 standard will encompass all air interfaces and a wider range of frequency bands so there will be more phones available. We are not sure whether and at what stage HAC compliance would be mandatory to all digital wireless devices. Currently you can check the packaging of a mobile handset to see if it carries the HAC rating, this would indicate whether the digital wireless device is hearing aid compatible.

Do you have a question ask it here?
