It's the same every year: long queues at tyre dealers and garages are evidence that winter tyres only occur to most of us when the first snow starts to fall. Drivers who want to skip the queues should plan their changeover to winter tyres now, advise the experts at TÜV SÜD. They point out that winter tyres are mandatory in Germany and remind car owners that a new tyre marking scheme will be introduced from November to provide guidance concerning wet grip, rolling resistance and external noise. TÜV SÜD also advises motorists on what to watch out for when buying new tyres, to put the brakes on rising mobility costs.
