Significant faults in coaches and buses have risen slightly by 1.5 per cent throughout all age categories compared to last year.This is the conclusion of the 2012 TÜV Bus Report which VdTÜV, the association of German TÜV organizations, presented at a press conference in Berlin today. According to TÜV SÜD, inadequate servicing and maintenance is the number one cause for this rise in significant faults, as shown, for example, by lighting problems identified in one in five vehicles.However, in spite of these figures buses remain a safe means of transport as the number of buses that fail the roadworthiness test remains at a consistently low level.
