TÜV SÜD organizes Energy Efficiency Forum in Beijing

TÜV SÜD, a leading provider of testing, inspection and certification solutions, conducted a two-day energy efficiency forum in Beijing. Technical experts from government, science and research institutions, enterprises and TÜV SÜD had an in-depth discussion on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions in the industry and construction. The National Climate Change Strategy Research and International Cooperation Center, China Industry Energy Conservation and Clean Production Association, Chinese Society for Urban Studies Green Building Research Center, and Professor from Tsinghua University, Tongji University, and Harbin Institute of Technology attended the forum.

TÜV SÜD: significant faults in buses on the rise

Significant faults in coaches and buses have risen slightly by 1.5 per cent throughout all age categories compared to last year.This is the conclusion of the 2012 TÜV Bus Report which VdTÜV, the association of German TÜV organizations, presented at a press conference in Berlin today. According to TÜV SÜD, inadequate servicing and maintenance is the number one cause for this rise in significant faults, as shown, for example, by lighting problems identified in one in five vehicles.However, in spite of these figures buses remain a safe means of transport as the number of buses that fail the roadworthiness test remains at a consistently low level.

TÜV SÜD wins Siemens contract to test 30 offshore turbines

TÜV SÜD has won a contract tendered by Siemens Wind Power to test 30 wind turbines in the North Sea. The contract covers component testing in accordance with the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung, BetrSichV),and is the first tangible result of a framework contract concluded in July that governs the testing of offshore facilities over the next years.
