Amendments of Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 on textile fibre labelling published
Summary:- The Regulation (EU) No. 286/2012 amending the Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 was published on the Official Journal of the European Union on 31 March 2012. It basically adopted the technical progress of Directive 2008/121/EC and Directive 96/73/EC
- In July 2011, Directive 2011/73/EU amended Directive 2008/121/EC for the inclusion of a new fibre name, polypropylene/polyamide bicomponent, and its agreed allowance used to calculate the mass of fibres in a textile product. While Directive 2011/74/EC also amended Directive 96/73/EC for the testing methods of quantitative analysis of binary textile fibre mixtures
- This newly published amendment actually adopted the information provided in Directive 2011/73/EU and Directive 2011/74/EU, except with some minor changes to the numbering of the fibre names based on the Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011
- The amendment will apply from 8 May 2012
- As a reminder, Directive 73/44/EEC, Directive 96/73/EC and Directive 2008/121/EC will soon repealed by the Regulation (EU) No. 1007/2011 with effect from 8 May 2012
