One of the challenges on the road to achieving significant reductions in the number of severe injuries and deaths on our roads lies in the incorporation of demographic change into accident research. Prof Stefan Strick, President of the Federal Highway Research Institute (Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen, BASt), emphasized this aspect at the opening of the 2012 crash.tech conference in Munich. In the anniversary year of crash.tech – TÜV SÜD launched the conference series 20 years ago – over 150 experts attending the conference ending today (25 April) focused on the combination of passive and active safety systems and on new challenges in road traffic such as electromobility.
