Euro-6 Standard for commercial vehicles: Picking up initial experiences

The new exhaust emissions standard Euro 6 will come into effect for all newly registered commercial vehicles throughout Europe from 2014. This new law focuses particularly on soot particles and nitrogen oxides. However, vehicles will cost more and their fuel consumption will rise if incorrect driving methods are used; fleet managers are responding by putting the brakes on investment. TÜV SÜD can sound the all-clear: the experts recommend adding Euro 6 vehicles to fleets now to allow fleet managers to gain experience with them at an early stage and thus increase efficiency over the long term. Fuel consumption, carbon emissions and cost-effectiveness are also hot topics at TÜV SÜD's debut appearance at IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover from 20 to 27 September.
