How to define Essential Performance (EP) for a component (with a 3rd edition certificate) used in a MEE?

It make sense to distinguish between 2 cases: A) Real single components, e.g. resistor, diode: Component faults may occur at each time of operation. On the component level such components do not have EP. A COMPONENT WITH HIGH INTEGRITY CHARACTERISTIC according to clause 4.9 cannot fail and EP is not violated. B) Subassembly of several individual components, e.g. switched-mode power supply (SMPS): The MEE manufacturer needs to define this. Examples could be: - Temperatures in SFC remain < 90°C, - Output voltage remains stable +/- 10% in SFC or drops to OV.

Do you have a question ask it here?
