How long do we have to update existing products?

Under currently foreseen plans, the 2nd Ed of 60601-1 will be withdrawn on 1 June 2012 (1 June 2013 in the USA). If there is a relevant Part 2 for the equipment and by 1/6/2012 it has not been updated to the 3rd Ed of Part 1, then it will be permissible to continue to use the 2nd Ed. It is not possible (technically) to mix the 3rd Ed of Part 1 and a ‘2nd Ed’ Part 2.
