Is there any value in the concept of ‘Patient Environment’?
This is mentioned in the Guidance and Rationale just for information. The reason is to refer to an area in which equipment, patient and persons may intentionally or unintentionally come into contact.
There is no further use of this in the GSD as it is covered in other ways. The concept in not used in most medical standards and is now generally outmoded but may just be of some value in the very rare use of flammable anaesthetics and the use of antistatic castors and tubing.
