Class D DSC radios must meet the requirements of EN 300 338-3 to continue to be placed on the market


Within the EU, Class D DSC fixed mount marine radios fall within the scope of the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive. EN 301 025-2 and EN 301 025-3 are the appropriate harmonised standards to be used to demonstrate compliance with the essential requirements of the R&TTE. These cover Spectrum Usage and Access to Emergency Services respectively. Both standards refer to EN 301 025-1 for test methodology.

  1. en 300 338-3 exceeds the essential requirements of the R&TTE directive and is currenly going through a review by ETSI to correct the sutuation, correction could take until mid 2013!
