System tested – landmark safety certificate by TÜV SÜD

Security is joining the aspect of safety, i.e. functional safety, in playing an increasingly important role for embedded systems. TÜV SÜD will present a new certificate that combines these two aspects at the Embedded World exhibition and conference in Nuremberg. At present, the certification is implemented in practice in several pilot projects, including the certification of a microkernel made by EUROS Embedded Systems GmbH, a leading software specialist that operates in the field of embedded systems (TÜV SÜD: Hall 4, Stand 4-204, EUROS: Hall 5, Stand 5-318).

TÜV SÜD: tips on how to keep the inside of your car moisture-free

Finding ice on the inside of your car windscreen? Motorists forced to apply their ice scrapers to the inside as well as the outside of their car when temperatures fall below zero may have left their cars parked under trees all too often in the run-up to winter, leading to falling leaves blocking the intake air vents or sunroof drains. Typical signs include a damp, musty smell and constantly fogged-up windows. Failing to take action may risk costly repairs. From March onwards, transport and logistics companies that already calculate their carbon emissions are likely to be able to rely on a new guideline.The new EN 16258 standard which will then come into effect defines how greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector will have to be determined in the future.Offering a broad range of third-party services, TÜV SÜD supports the industry in implementing this new standard.Also part of TÜV SÜD's service package is the BLUELOGICO tool, which calculates emissions according to the new rules and helps companies to cut their carbon emissions.

Registration of the first JI and CCBS climate change project in the forest sector


The UNFCCC secretariat has registered the first Improved Forest Management under the Joint Implementation (JI) mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. The project, located in Far Eastern Russia, also fulfils the criteria of the Climate Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCBS). TÜV SÜD validated the project under both standards.

Suzhou Gaochuangte awarded with TÜV SÜD PV Power Plant Certification

TÜV SÜD Greater China (TÜV SÜD) issued its first PV Power Plant Certification in China to Canadian Solar Inc. (CSI) and Suzhou Gaochuangte New Energy Sources Development Co., Ltd. (Gaochuangte), a joint venture Company. This certificate demonstrates that the 8MV Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant, which is a part of 50MW Capacity Ningxia Hongsibao PV project, complies with the certification standards formulated by TÜV SÜD with reference to IEC62446, IEC60364, IEC61215 and IEC62109. The scope of certification includes the design, file integrity, safety & reliability of key components, construction management as well as the final test and acceptance of the power plant.

TÜV SÜD carries out biofuel certification of waste and residual materials in accordance with the 36th BImSchV

TÜV SÜD was one of the first certification bodies for biofuels and other bioliquids to gain accreditation by the Federal German Agency for Agriculture and Food (Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung, BLE) in 2010. In December 2012, TÜV SÜD obtained further accreditation for the testing of waste and residual materials in accordance with the 36th BImSchV.
