TÜV SÜD Rail acquires European transportation division of DNV KEMA

TÜV SÜD Rail has acquired the European Transportation Systems division of DNV KEMA, the Norwegian-Dutch energy consulting and testing & certification company. The acquisition expands TÜV SÜD Rail's portfolio of consultancy, testing and certification services for rail systems and underlines its leading role as a partner in international rail projects. The divestment of its European rail activities is in line with DNV KEMA's renewed strategy, which focuses fully on energy and its sustainable use.

TÜV SÜD: dual system of roadworthiness testing saves lives in Europe

In Germany, roadworthiness testing has contributed significantly to reducing the number of road fatalities. The number of deaths on German roads has dropped by more than 17,000 since 1970 to reach around 4,000 in 2011. This success story is based on a dual approach involving vehicle inspection by impartial motor vehicle inspectors and immediate repair of any faults detected by specialist repair shops. According to TÜV SÜD, this dual system is a reliable and customer-friendly solution for the whole of Europe. Its experts are therefore advocating the introduction of this solution in talks on the harmonisation of roadworthiness testing.

TÜV SÜD has acquired 100 per cent of the shares in Italy-based pH s.r.l. By acquiring the laboratory, which analyses food and non-food products, the German technical service organization has expanded its existing network of food laboratories and continues to pursue its internationalization strategy.

In-car safety for children: Vision Zero is feasible!

Crash test dummies for all age groups, rear-facing baby seats, child safety seats categorised not only by weight, but also by size – today, the survival chances of babies in cars involved in an accident are similar to those of adults. Improved cooperation among OEMs, the manufacturers of child restraint systems and research organisations is one factor playing a role in this favourable development. However, incorrect use of child restraint systems is still a major problem. These are the results of the "Protection of Children in Cars" congress organised by TÜV SÜD and recently held for the tenth time in Munich.

TÜV SÜD Product Service gains formal accreditation as a CESG accredited TEMPEST testing facility

TÜV SÜD Product Service is now accredited by CESG, the UK’s National Technical Authority for Information Assurance, as a TEMPEST testing facility. It is one of only three accredited testing facilities in the UK responsible for issuing TEMPEST Certificates for products.
