Recent Developments Regarding Compliance With EN 300 328 V1.8.1

EN 300 328 is one of the most common standards used today in order to demonstrate compliance with Article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive. It covers Wideband Data Transmission equipments operating in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz ISM band. Products typically covered by this standard include WiFi, Bluetooth and Zigbee devices. So this important standard affects millions of devices employing these commonly used technologies.

TÜV SÜD: favourable verdict after first roadworthiness test

Nine trucks, 3.24 million kilometres, three years – these are the parameters for bestof9.eu, the largest long-term truck test ever held in Europe.After one year, the trucks were presented for their first roadworthiness test.TÜV SÜD, the partner for safety issues in the bestof9.eu test, sums up the results of roadworthiness testing: apart from faults in lighting systems and sometimes noticeably diverging tyre inflation pressures, the test did not reveal any safety-relevant weaknesses.On top in terms of fuel economy at present is the New Actros (Euro 5) manufactured by Mercedes Benz, with consumption of 27.8 litres of diesel over
100 kilometres.

TÜV SÜD will be hosting CE Marking of Consumer Electronics and Professional Electronics Training Courses in Wakefield and Birmingham

TÜV SÜD Product Service is hosting one day training courses about CE marking of consumer products and professional electronics.

These courses will be presented by TÜV SÜD's Product Safety Specialist Alastair McLaughlin who has 18 years' experience in consumer product testing and compliance management.

Selling laboratory, control and measurement equipment in the EU? You will need to comply with EN 61010-1:2010 by October 2013

On October 1st 2013, compliance with EN 61010-1:2010 will be mandatory.
The standard has expanded its scope to now include all locations where the following types of equipment are used:
  • Electrical test and measurement equipment
  • Electrical industrial process-control equipment
  • Electrical laboratory equipment

This edition of EN 61010-1 was initially announced in 2010 as an update to the second edition published in 2001 and we are now coming to the end of the transition period. However, there is still time to ensure that your products are in compliance with the new requirements.

APZ: Cleaning up in the used-car trade

For the new and used car sales industry, the need for vehicle care and cleaning as part of routine business represents a major time and cost factor. The experts from the TÜV SÜD subsidiary Auto-Pflege-Zentrum (APZ) provide car dealers with a full range of services from classic vehicle valeting and detailing to logistics. This enables customers to keep the costs of professional car conditioning under control, from the vehicle's arrival on the lot to its delivery to a new owner – an important consideration if a used-car business is to flourish. But vehicle valeting and detailing is only one of the areas under TÜV SÜD's spotlight at the IAA, held from 12 to 22 September in Frankfurt am Main. Other top subjects are vehicle management, fleet services and electronic vehicle registration.

The acquisition provides the international TÜV SÜD Group with access to Brazil's growth market for construction and civil engineering services and a strategic bridgehead to the Latin American market.

TÜV SÜD assists with the registration of chemicals in Croatia

Following Croatia's accession to the European Union, Croatian companies now also have to comply with REACH, the EU Regulation that requires manufacturers and importers to register chemical substances with the ECHA – the European Chemicals Agency, based in Helsinki. Croatia's Accession Treaty includes a special deadline for pre-registration. TÜV SÜD is assisting Croatian companies with the complex procedure.

Less than a month until TÜV SÜD hosts the next Electrical Machinery Safety training course in Fareham

There is now less than a month until TÜV SÜD hosts the next Electrical Machinery Safety training course. The course will be held in Fareham on 3rd September and will run throughout the day.

The aim of this course is to introduce and give attendees an overview of the EN 60204-1 standard in order to understand its requirements and the application of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment and systems to ensure the electrical safety of machinery in industrial installations.

EN 60204-1 Safety of Machinery: Electrical Equipment of Machines sets out the requirements for electrical equipment of machines to ensure that people using the machine are safe, control responses of the machine are consistent, and that the machine may easily be maintained throughout its lifetime.
