TÜV SÜD, a global leading inspection, testing and certification service company, organized the 2013 Metro Safety Summit in Nanjing. The event participants include governmental agencies, industry associations, rail operators, academic organizations, industry leaders in the domestic rail industry as well as technical experts from TÜV SÜD. The summit provided a platform for exchange on the latest safety technologies and development in independent safety assessment, certification and urban rail transit safety assessment system and fire protection testing technologies of rolling stock. Through this event, TÜV SÜD aims to improve safety awareness in China rail transit and effectively reduce operating risk. During the summit, TÜV SÜD concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Southwest Jiaotong University, an authoritative institute in the field, to jointly promote safety and development of urban rail transit through close cooperation with companies, universities and institutions.
