Class D DSC Handheld Marine Radios

Until recently there were no suitable test standards for these devices. Manufacturers therefore had to approach a Notified Body to identify a suitable R&TTE test schedule. It appears that this situation is about to change. The recently published EN 302 885 series of standards will address the regulatory requirements for handheld DSC radios. Although EN 302 885-2 and EN 302 885-3 are not yet listed in the Official Journal (OJ) (so are not harmonised standards), they should appear in the OJ soon which will greatly simplify the compliance process.
