Personal Locator Beacons (using COSPAS-SARSAT 406MHz)
Until recently the use of 406MHz PLBs in the United Kingdom has been restricted to maritime use (leisure craft) and coastal areas. The UK’s OFCOM has now decided that PLBs can be used inland (e.g. by mountaineers, skiers, ramblers). Please see IR-2048 for details.
